In 2022, Solid State Clothing launched The Marigold Beanie, a product crafted entirely within a 135-mile radius in North Carolina, born from a collaboration with Carolina Textile District and Fonta Flora Brewery. Solid State Clothing, an initiative by TS Designs, aims to pioneer the use of natural dyes in clothing. Under the guidance of Courtney Lockemer, a natural dye expert, our understanding of sourcing dyes from local materials has expanded.

The marigolds used in the dye were cultivated at Fonta Flora Brewery's Whippoorwill Farm in Nebo, North Carolina. After harvesting, the marigolds were transported to TS Designs. The beanies, knitted by InnovaKnits in Conover, NC, underwent a meticulous dyeing process. Marigolds were placed in net bags and immersed in the dye bath with water and the beanies. Post-dyeing, they were dried and sent to Opportunity Threads for stitching with logo patches.
